Learn to Play Craps

In order to learn to play casino craps game, it is important to understand that 3-Way Craps is three separate one-roll bets masquerading as one: a bet on the 2, a bet on the 3, and a bet on the 12. Thus, a 3-Way Craps bet amount should be divisible by three. For instance, if a player makes a $6 3-Way Craps bet, the dealer puts $2.00 on the 2, $2.00 on the 3, and $2.00 on the 12.

How to Play

The value of the lowest-denomination chip in play at the table, normally $1.00, is the minimum bet amount for each of the numbers 2, 3, and 12. Therefore, the smallest 3-Way Craps bet that can be made is $3.00. If someone wants to learn to play casino craps, they have to understand that the 3-Way Craps bet is controlled by the stickman. In the proposition area, the 2, 3, and 12 boxes are clearly marked. Get the stickman's attention, then toss the chips to an open area near the table's center, saying "Three-way Craps, please."

Payoffs

If a 2 appears, the payoff is 30:1 but a 3 or 12 lose. If a 12 appears, the payoff is 30:1 but a 2 or 3 lose. If a 3 appears, the payoff is 15:1 but a 2 or 12 lose. As there are two ways to make a 3--1-2 and 2-1--and only one make to make a 2 or 12--1-1 or 6-6, respectively--the payoff for the 3 is half the payoff for the 2 or 12. The Over 7 and Under 7 bets are rare one-roll bets. An Over 7 bet wins if an 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 appears on the next roll and loses if any other number appears, including 7. The Under 7 bet wins if a 6, 5, 4, 3, or 2 appear on the next roll and loses if any other number appears, including 7. For both bets the payoff is 1:1.
